B42 partners with Martin Szekely to present a series of books dedicated to his work. Each volume lingers on a piece, a series of pieces or an exhibition and reports, leaving a large place to the image, on the projects of the designer. Martin Szekely, born in 1956 and trained at the Boulle and Estienne Schools, is a French designer. He was noticed from his first furniture collection, entitled « Pi » (1982-1985), of which the chaise longue became an emblematic piece. Since then, his creation is both composed of small series editions regularly exhibited in galleries and of creations resulting from his work with industrialists and public commissions. His creations have been the subject of several exhibitions and have been included in numerous collections in France and abroad.
Volume IV, Interiors. Les années 1980-1990, shows the creations of the designer in situ. It is at the Néotù gallery that new collectors appear, conquered by the furniture and objects of artisanal manufacture, shown in the course of his exhibitions. For some of them, Martin Szekely designs furniture that is « attentive » to their person and their living environment. Peter Capellmann follows Martin Szekely’s work and documents without staging the private and public interiors for which he is called upon. The photographs of these interiors, seen through his eyes and published in this book, have remained unpublished to this day.
